The key to successful treatment with dental implants is a good foundation.  In the mouth a good foundation is having good bone and lots of it.  When teeth are extracted atrumatically special techniques and instruments are utilized that allow the tooth to be removed without damaging the surrounding bone.  Often this does take longer, but by preserving the bone we increase the amount of bone found after the area has healed and therefore increase the support for the implant.
