One of the premier providers of IV sedation in Evansville

Anxiety and fear about that upcoming dental appointment should not hold you back from getting the treatment you need. We understand many patients experience dental anxiety which is why we offer several treatment options with sedation dentistry. Dr. James Woodyard is the only periodontist to provide IV sedation dentistry in Evansville, IN and is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). He helps patients get relief from dental fears and his team is here to ensure you feel comfortable and relaxed throughout the visit.

Oral Sedation

One of the easiest ways to induce a state of relaxation is with oral sedation. We may prescribe anti-anxiety medication that you take before your visit so you feel calm and are easy to numb during your treatment. You will feel drowsy for a few hours after treatment and need someone to drive you home.

Nitrous Oxide Sedation

We offer nitrous oxide sedation dentistry in Evansville, IN. Inhaling this colorless gas for a few minutes can create a tingling sensation as the body becomes more relaxed. We may recommend nitrous oxide sedation with more aggressive procedures, such as tooth extractions, dental implants or bone grafting. You will return to normal after the gas is stopped.

Local Anesthesia

Dr. Woodyard performs a number of procedures under local anesthesia. We inject anesthetic into the treatment area and the numbing effect lasts through the entire procedure. We can selectively numb parts of the mouth with a relatively painless injection.

IV Sedation

Dr. Woodyard is the only periodontist in Evansville to offer IV sedation. Intravenous Conscious Sedation is an effective method for inducing relaxation in patients who have a hard time getting numb or have high levels of dental fear. We administer an anesthetic solution intravenously and you will feel very relaxed as the anesthesia starts circulating through the bloodstream.
